Plant Summary

The sickle-leaf mother-in-law’s-tongue, Sansevieria hallii, is a rare succulent plant with curved, banded leaves and fragrant white flowers. It grows in dry savanna regions of Zimbabwe and South Africa, where it is pollinated by insects, possibly moths, at night. The leaves are tough and fibrous and were used by the San people to make rope and string for their bows. Sansevieria hallii is easy to grow in containers or rockeries, preferring a sandy, slightly acid soil and a shady spot. It can be propagated by seed, rhizome division, or leaf cuttings.
