Plant Summary

The jade plant, Crassula ovata, is a large, branching, rounded succulent shrub with thick stems and glossy oval leaves. It produces dense clusters of sweetly scented pink flowers in winter. It thrives outdoors in full sun or part shade with good drainage. Tolerates drought, wind, and coastal conditions. Traditionally, the roots are eaten as food, and leaves used as a remedy for diarrhoea, epilepsy, corns, and as a purgative. Makes a great potted plant indoors or out. Propagate from seeds or cuttings. Also known as money plant or tree of happiness.
