Botanical Ink Making Workshop: 19 September (FULL DAY)

R1,380.00

Spend a day immersed in the world of botanical colour, exploring how plants, fungi and natural materials can be transformed into expressive inks.

Nikki will guide participants through the complete process of botanical ink making: from ethical foraging principles and material selection, through to extraction, preparation and refining plant-based inks.

This is a day of hands-on ink making using botanical materials. Participants will explore colour modifiers and observe the surprising shifts that occur when plant-based inks interact with different pH modifiers and metal salts.

Each participant will create their own botanical inks to take home, along with experimental colour studies developed throughout the day.

This is a slow, immersive and exploratory workshop that encourages curiosity, observation and a playful engagement with natural materials. No previous experience is required.

Facilitator: Nikki Miles

Nikki Miles is an artist and botanical colour maker whose practice explores the colours held within plants, fungi, lichens and earth. Working from her studio in the Overberg, she gathers and processes natural materials to create inks, dyes and pigments and teaches workshops in botanical ink making and natural colour.
