It is endemic to South Africa and grows in Renosterveld and Waboomveld habitats, which are rich in biodiversity and fire-adapted. It produces seeds that are dispersed by wind or birds, and regenerates after fire. It is easy to propagate from cuttings or seeds, and prefers a well-drained soil and full sun.
