Kniphofia praecox, also known as the greater red-hot poker, is a hardy, herbaceous perennial that produces long, strap-like leaves and flower spikes. The flowers are yellow to orange flowers, carried on stalks that tower above the foliage and are loved by sunbirds. Red-hot pokers make a brilliant display in a garden and the flowers last for a long time. These plants can be propagated by seed or by division.
