Description

SUSTAINABLE PLANT MEDICINE: 1-day workshop on the sustainable harvesting and cultivation of indigenous medicinal plants for healthcare professionals.

Who should attend: Healthcare professionals, in particular Traditional Health Practitioners (THP’s) and those trained or interested in indigenous medicinal plants. Organisations interested in the intersection of plant medicine and sustainability are invited to sponsor a representative to attend.

ENGLISH
Overview:
Sustainable plant medicine refers to the use of medicinal plants in a manner that is ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable. It involves the adoption of practices that ensure the long-term availability of medicinal plants, while also promoting the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity. Sustainable plant medicine also seeks to promote fairness and equity in the distribution and use of medicinal plants, while respecting cultural practices and traditional knowledge. This includes the use of sustainable harvesting and cultivation practices, as well as the development of resources, policies, and regulations that support sustainable plant medicine practices.
Objectives: Empower Healthcare Professionals, in particular our Traditional Health Practitioners (THP’s) and other healthcare professionals working with indigenous medicinal plants, with the knowledge and skills required to be stewards of our natural heritage, to take the lead in addressing unsustainable harvesting and cultivation of indigenous plants, and to facilitate the implementation of practical, equitable, just, abundant medicinal plant solutions for the wellbeing of all.
