Plant Summary

The Kouga gasteria, Gasteria glomerata, is a small succulent forming dense clusters of fleshy tongue-shaped leaves with a rough surface. Tucked amidst cliff ledges, its grey-green color camouflages it in the native fynbos. Slow growing but long lived, it bears edible, red-orange flowers in spring. Prefers well-drained soil and bright shade. Tolerates drought. Propagate from leaves or seeds. Perfect for rockeries, and containers on patios and sills, its sculptural foliage adds delightful texture without demanding much space or care.
