Indigenous to South Africa, Imphepho’s leaves are rich in essential oils to be extracted. Traditionally she was used as a ritual incense and perfume and because of her softness and insect repelling properties, was used for bedding material. Imphepho is also said to help ease stress and promote relaxation when 2-3 drops are enjoyed in an oil burner or warm bath.
With its anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties the essential oil can be used in a wash for wounds, rashes, spots, skin ailments and fungal infections. It may also regenerative when used on scars. It can also be added to the steam bathes to help relieve fever, coughs, colds and flu.
