The violet-flower pelargonium, Pelargonium ionidiflorum, is a small, woody shrublet with beautiful light pink to dark violet pink flowers that bloom all year round. It is native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, where it grows among rocks in dry karoo. It belongs to the geranium family, which has a distinctive seed structure that allows the seeds to drill into the soil. This plant has no recorded cultural uses, but it is ideal for dry gardens, container gardening, rockeries and flower boxes. It is easy to grow from cuttings or seeds and requires direct sunlight and well-drained soil.
