Mimetes fimbriifolius, known as the tree pagoda, is a rare and beautiful tree. It has dense, rounded crowns of leaves with red and yellow flowers. It is pollinated by sugarbirds and its seeds are dispersed by ants. It is adapted to survive fires by having thick, corky bark and by ants storing seeds underground. It was once used as fire wood, but is now protected. It is a slow-growing and long-lived species that can be grown from seeds or cuttings in well-drained, sandy soil.
