Common names:
Botanical name: Lachenalia pallida

Lachenalia pallida, also known as the pale-flowered lachenalia, is a bulbous perennial plant native to the southwest Cape. It produces one or two lanceolate leaves that can become warty, and can grow to heights of 12–30 cm. The plant has showy flowers that cluster along the stems, and come in a variety of colors, including cream, burgundy, mauve-pink, and pure white. Lachenalia pallida grows in large colonies on clay flats, and prefers moist, heavy ground. It can tolerate full sun to part shade, and loves warmer areas, but should be protected from frost. The plant requires regular watering once the foliage begins to appear, and flowers appear late in the season. Lachenalia pallida is adaptable and easy to grow, and can be grown in containers or as a low border display.
