Botanical name: Ficus natalensis

The Natal fig, Ficus natalensis, is a large, spreading evergreen tree that can reach 20 meters tall and 30 meters wide. Fast-growing, it has large, dense foliage that provides excellent shade. The bark is used medicinally by indigenous cultures, and the fig fruits attract birds. Can be used as indoor plant in bright light levels with some sun. With its aggressive root system and wide canopy, the Natal fig is best suited for large properties. Its hardiness, shade, and ornamental roots make it an attractive tree for gardens with sufficient space.
